Much more than the cursory review of alliances that consulting firms typically perform, it’s an in-depth exploration of your program from the perspectives of multiple stakeholders in multiple areas. The Alliancesphere Diagnostic precisely defines the current state of your alliance program, specific portfolios and individual partners, comparing each component to top-performing alliances.

To gain this insight and make the best recommendations, Alliancesphere examines:

  • Key internal information. Our efforts begin with deep background information on your alliance as it exists in performance reports, internal presentations, strategic plans and other key documents.

  • Quantitative data. By conducting e-surveys with a wide range of stakeholders inside and outside your alliance and your company, we're able to pinpoint potential problem areas for deeper analysis.

  • Qualitative information. Alliancesphere digs deeply into problem areas uncovered in the quantitative research, conducting interviews with strategically selected stakeholders.

The Alliancesphere Diagnostic is an iterative process that follows seven steps. This diagnostic takes anywhere from a few days to a month (or longer) to conduct, depending on the depth and breadth of the study. The seven steps are:

  1. Collaborative kick-off. Alliancesphere meets with your project team to identify key internal information for review, specify objectives for stakeholders and map out the project.

  2. Research preparation. Based on the research objectives, we develop the e-survey questionnaire and qualitative research Discussion Guide and identify survey participants.

  3. E-survey. Alliancesphere sends the e-survey to all identified stakeholders in the sample. The way in which we administer and follow up the e-survey generates a strong response rate – 65 percent or more on average, based on past Diagnosis engagements.

  4. Survey analysis. Alliancesphere analyzes responses and maps them to the five components of the Alliance Lifecycle Model.

  5. Qualitative interviews. Key individuals are interviewed by phone or in person to uncover the reasons and cause-and-effect relationships for the gaps identified in the e-survey.

  6. Research synthesis. Alliancesphere creates a holistic view of the current state of the alliance based on all research.

  7. Report and recommendations. Alliancesphere compiles its findings and recommendations in a graphic format that allows you to quickly assess areas of the alliance that meet best practices – and areas that fall short.
